Wish I was here.........

As mentioned on my loveahappyending page on the blog, the wonderful Janice Horton is launching her book today (14th December), Reaching for the Stars! Go on! Check out the page! When I read the book I will be posting a review there!

As the book is about a celebrity chef who goes into a self imposed exile, the theme for the launch party over on Janice's blog is Wish I was here.  So, as part of the launch party on Janice's blog we have been asked to post a picture or a photo of where we wish we where.

So, here's my contribution.

This cabin is in Vermilion Peak, cabin, San Juan Mountains, Colorado. Now I have no particular desire to go especailly to Colorado. I just have a desire to visit somewhere like this. Could be anywhere in the world. I don't mind. I just love the idea of disappearing for a while to a log cabin in the mountains. Can you imagine the peace. The tranquillity!!! Of course I would be there without any children! A rare treat of me time! I can picture myself inside this lovely little cabin with a big fire roaring in the fireplace! The sound of the logs crackling in the fire and the smell of a big yummy dinner cooking in the oven. There would be no TV. Just me and some books. Lots of wine and a giant fluffy sweater and big bed socks! I'd have a king size bed in there too with fur blankets! Total cosy! I might just let my husband come to visit! Just to be able to visit a place like this every so often would definitely help to keep me sane. My own little retreat away from the harsh realities of life. How perfect!

Where do you wish you where?

Oh wow - I want to be there too! Always fancied a log cabin, had one experience travelling between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Highway 1. Option was wigwam or log cabin, but it wasn't that glamorous and it smelt a bit damp.... I'd rather have your dream cabin!

It looks cold but idyllic and I really like the sound of the big log fire, yummy food in the oven, the fluffy sweaters and bedsocks - AND BOOKS! Yep, I think it's an excellent 'Wish I Was Here...'choice!

Love, Janice xx

Oh yes, it would be lovely to be without the children. Love them dearly but a cabin like this, snow all around, plenty of wine, books and choc.....
you got me going :)

I do love your choice

Oh, I do so love cabins in the Rocky Mountains! And I'm with you on the no kids thing!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Def a hit with the 'no kids' bit lol. As much as we love them we love it when we get some peace too!

I like the idea but I wonder if the reality would be a bit too cold and spartan for me, plus I would need someone to keep the fire going, I'm not very great at domesticated things.

I think if you had your own chef, like Finn McDuff to do the cooking and someone who could keep the fire going, it would be fabulous!!

Very nice!!

Well Chris maybe you should stipulate a naked George Clooney to put logs on the fire for you lol. Oh now theres an idea. Hmmmm...........

Oh my own chef would just be fab. Wonder if George Clooney can cook too??? hmmm.

Come to Whistler, BC, with me and we'll find you the perfect log cabin nestled peacefully away from everything! We'll come and collect you at the end of the week.

I could have sworn I wrote a post, and now it is going to sound like I'm just copying Patricia when I say, come visit me. I live just 90 miles from the Canadian Rockies. There are lots of lovely cabins around (B&B's for the most part) where you can rest and relax.

But personally, I think a hammock on a nice warm beach somewhere, with lots of ice tea (sugar free, of course) and books would be just the ticket. Snow gets really old, really quickly.

Patricia and Carolyn you are both very kind. Unfortunately I live in Ireland which is quite a ways away from you both. Maybe someday. I can but dream! Its part of my 10 year plan to go to the Rockies! lol. x
