NaBloPoMo Day 3....Free time! Really???

All you busy parents out there have regular free time? Right??? Possibly the stupidest question I could ever ask! Kids keep us soooooooooooo busy and there is no such thing as  'me time' and on the rare occasion we get it its mind blowing. Its such a rarity that often we don't know what to do with ANY time we get! Well yesterday I had a whole 2 hours of kid free time!!!! yipeeeeeeeeee! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids dearly but I also love the times they aren't here too! Am I a bad mother or just an honest one? Well you can make up your own mind about that. Anyhow, when that rare free time comes about I love to do a variety of things and because free time is such a rare thing I get myself all worked up about what one of my  'me' things I should actually do!! So, here's a list of some of the things I like to do when I get the chance. Not in any particular order!

1. Read..........oh how I love to read. If I could I'd just read all day! I've always read books as a small child, enjoying being transported into a whole other world. I didn't have a particularly great childhood and books were always my escape.

2. Go book shopping..........I could spend hours and hours and any money I ever had on books. They don't even necessarily have to be brand new books. Secondhand ones make my knees knock with excitement too. Yes I know I'm a weirdo!

3. Sleep........not a very exciting past time I know but lets face it, we can never have enough sleep because we never get enough sleep! Sometimes I walk around like a zombie who has just been dropped from a 10 storey building and then run over by a jumbo jet!

4. Watch movies............I am a total movie buff! I particularly love watching horror movies. I've got Paranormal Activity 2 on in the background as I am writing this. Though why anyone would consider that a horror is beyond me but there's no accounting for taste!

5. Go and eat in a restaurant / coffee shop............lunch, dinner or even a cuppa and a bun! To be able to eat uninterrupted is pure bliss!!!! I can sit there all smug because I have no child screaming in my ear or complaining because her bun has raisons in it!

6. Have a little bit of boomchiccawowow time with my beloved husband! Enough said!

7. Blog..........I love to blog! I love to write! It gives me a chance to talk the biggest load of rubbish. Most of the time I'm pretty sure no-one ever reads the rubbish I write but hey ho again! Lets face it. Blogging is a lot more healthy than talking to yourself! Not that I ever did that. Well not often. Well sometimes.

8. Carrying on with my bookish theme, I love to go to the library and just sit and read the papers, or get a hot chocolate or sit on their comfy sofas with my book and chillax! Sitting there surrounded by books is just wonderful although my local library has had a revamp over the last couple of years and its gone from this quaint old library into this monstrous building that looks like an airport! I keep expecting Easyjet to taxi up outside the front door!

9. Meet up with some friends for a good old chinwag and a general moan about work/kids/hubs. Generally I just ended up telling my friends off for whinging about mundane things that can easily be fixed! Life can never be as bad as they all make out sometimes! So what if 'mummy' can't babysit because of her tennis club committments!!!! My mother lives 600 yards away and I only see her a couple of times a year! Her choice! In case you hadn't guessed I do sometimes like to be a martyr and play my 'special needs child' card! I have to bite my tongue to stop myself yelling 'I WIN'!!! Anyway..........

10. If I'm feeling extra fit I like to go to the gym. Though that hasn't happened for quite a while. I'd need a hell of a lot of free time to sweat my ass off during 'me time'. What I'd really like to do is go for a massage, facial and manicure but I'd need a sugar daddy for that!

Now, I bet that most of you probably think that any child free time should be used to catch up on housework! Hell no people!!!! Housework can be done anytime!!!! Housework fries your brain! Housework is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!! Step away from that ironing board!!! So what if I'm sitting here in a pair of my husbands socks! It won't kill me and the laundry can always be done later!!!

So, what are you doing with your free time?

You are so right Gemma. Free time does rule!!!! I wonder if theres a law we could get passed just to have more of it! Gotta be an infringement of our human rights that we don't get enough! lol

I agree with most of that, especially the not doing the housework!

I LOVE book shopping,in fact its one of the few types of shopping I like. I don't read as much as i used to as I'm always blogging and I tend to fall asleep when I read now!

I dream about free time. The last two hours I got to myself I drank far too much wine! Oops. Am also a winner at the 'who has the most shite life top trumps' game!

By myself I meant away from kids. I was with friends, I didn't just polish off all that wine sat in a room on my own you know. Tempting though that is some days!
